A WWE Hall of Famer believes WWE should create a dedicated wrestling show aimed exclusively at children, with Danhausen serving as its central star.
Speaking on 83 Weeks, former WCW President Eric Bischoff suggested the idea as a way to reconnect younger audiences with wrestling, arguing that rising ticket prices and fewer live events have made it harder for children to become lifelong fans. Bischoff said the programme should be targeted specifically at children aged between six and 12, without trying to appeal to older audiences.
“We know what we want. We want a kid that’s really a kid-centric show that’s really gonna fill the gap, right? Something that makes them feel special. So you create this show. I think the show has to be 100% targeted towards six to 12 year olds.”
Bischoff proposed Danhausen as the face of the project, while suggesting Raw and SmackDown stars should only make occasional guest appearances.
“Yes, Danhausen front facing. Occasionally, can you bring in somebody that even the six to 12 year olds go, ‘Oh my gosh, he’s from Raw,’ or, ‘She’s from SmackDown?’ Yeah, you do that every once in a while.”
He argued that WWE should fully commit to the concept rather than attempting to blend it with its existing programming, even if the idea carried some risk. Bischoff also said the show should have its own creative team focused solely on producing content for younger viewers instead of relying on WWE’s existing writers.
“I want a different writing team. I want any of the existing writers. I don’t care how good they are… I want its own dedicated team, and I want them to think through the eyes of the demo.”
The Hall of Famer added that the programme should feature its own roster of characters, making it easier to manage costs while also giving children something unique that isn’t seen on Raw or SmackDown every week. He also suggested distributing the show through youth-focused platforms rather than Netflix, arguing that younger audiences consume content differently from WWE’s traditional fanbase.
Eric Bischoff Once Didn’t Think Danhausen Could Be The Lead Star In A WWE Project
Eric Bischoff admitted he would once have dismissed the idea of Danhausen leading such a project, but now believes the wrestler’s unique appeal could make it a success.
“Something like that Danhausen thing comes up, and all the brain trust, everybody that knows the wrestling business, ‘Oh, that’ll never work.’… I would have said, ‘No, don’t do that,’ and I would have been wrong.”
Bischoff added that Danhausen’s story is compelling enough to inspire a film, joking that it should be called The Danhausen Effect.
