Gunther’s path to WrestleMania 42 remains unclear.
Despite his standing as one of WWE’s most dominant forces and a former World Heavyweight Champion, there is reportedly no confirmed direction for “The Ring General” heading into Las Vegas.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, Gunther’s creative plans are currently listed as “undetermined,” with no opponent locked in following Elimination Chamber. While speculation has ramped up online, the report noted that nothing has been finalised behind the scenes.
“Undetermined. Not something 100% I’ve heard. Don’t know where they’re going to go,” the outlet stated. “Could easily be Rey Mysterio, especially with this Dragon Lee stuff going on. Maybe they have something else for Gunther. Maybe it’s Gunther and Oba Femi if it’s not Oba and Brock. Can’t see it being Gunther and Brock at this point… but we did talk about how they made a point to throw Gunther out of the building before Brock Lesnar opened that challenge up. So maybe that still has some juice to it.”
Who Could Gunther Face At WrestleMania 42?
The report added that, at least from an outside perspective, three names appear to be circulating most heavily: Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi.
Mysterio’s name has gained traction due to Gunther’s ongoing issues with Dragon Lee. The Austrian star defeated Lee on the March 2 episode of WWE Raw, and Lee has long been associated with the Hall of Famer, making a potential generational clash a logical progression.
Oba Femi has also emerged as a possible opponent. The powerhouse has drawn comparisons to Gunther thanks to his physical style and presence, fuelling talk of a hard-hitting showdown on the grandest stage.
As for Lesnar, a dream match between the two has been discussed by fans for months. However, Lesnar has also been linked to other potential opponents, leaving Gunther’s WrestleMania future very much up in the air.
