Goldberg has opened up about his long-standing issues with Triple H, revealing the tension between the two began before he ever arrived in WWE.
Speaking on Going Ringside with Scott Johnson, the WWE Hall of Famer reflected on his 2003 run with the company and his rivalry with Triple H over the World Heavyweight Championship. According to Goldberg, the pair already had a strained relationship before he signed with WWE.
“We were both represented by the same agent, and we had had a confrontation prior to me going to the WWE,” he said. “And then, oh by the way, he was married to Vince McMahon’s daughter.”
The former WCW World Champion admitted the circumstances made his arrival in WWE difficult, given Triple H’s position within the company at the time.
“So it was kind of like me walking into an unwinnable situation,” he said.
Despite Past Issues, Goldberg Now Views Triple H Positively
Despite the issues between them, Goldberg believes professionalism ultimately prevailed and that he now views Triple H in a positive light.
“But I think business prevailed, and truthfully, at the end of the day, he’s a good guy.”
The comments represent a notable change in tone from the former two-time WWE Universal Champion, who was publicly critical of WWE following his retirement match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event XL in July 2025.
After the bout, Goldberg voiced frustration over the handling of his farewell, particularly after the broadcast cut away from his post-match speech. He was also noticed liking a social media post that criticised Triple H.
However, Goldberg’s latest remarks suggest any lingering issues between the two may now be in the past.
