Luke Menzies (Ridge Holland) has ended a GoFundMe campaign in his family’s name.
“Thank you all for the incredible support shown through the GoFundMe campaign. However, I want to clarify that I was not aware the page was going live and had no prior discussion with the family member who created it,” he said on X.
Menzies stated that no more donations will be taken in. The campaign was started by Menzies’ mother.
“Once we figure out how to move forward and I recoup the amount donated, I will be donating said amount to charity. I sincerely apologize if the page caused any upset or offense – that was never the intention. Thank you for your understanding and kindness,” he said.
As of press time, 151 donations were made equally $10,188 USD.

Fans responded to Menzies’ announcement:
Why not refund the money to the donors instead of giving it to an unnamed charity they may or may not support?

Respectfully, there should be some form of option for you to refund the folks who donated in good faith. Understand you’re saying you didn’t know it was happening, but if you are the beneficiary I think the only way forward if you don’t need the money is to return-to-sender.

YOU are the charity those people agreed to donate to. Refund it or keep it for its intended purpose (taking care of your family .) Those donors did not agree to donate to a charity they may not support.
