Former WWE Tag Team Champions have announced that they plan to call it a career next year after teaming together for 33 years.
Former WWE Tag Team Champions The Headbangers, Mosh and Thrasher, announced yesterday via Instagram that they are planning to retire in July 2026 after first starting to team together in 1994.
They announced that on July 23, 2026, they will be competing at the ISPW Legends of Wrestling Night at The Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood, New Jersey, and that they will be hanging up their boots after the event.
However, Mosh jokingly added that, while they do intend to retire following the ISPW event, if WWE called to bring them back, they would postpone their retirement.
When Did The Headbangers Win The WWE Tag Team Championship?
The Headbangers won their one and only WWE Tag Team Title on September 7, 1997, at the In Your House: Ground Zero pay-per-view, winning a Four-Way Elimination match for the vacant title, defeating The Godwinns, The Legion of Doom, and Owen Hart and The British Bulldog.
The belts were vacated by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Dude Love after Austin suffered his neck injury at the 1997 SummerSlam during his match with Owen Hart.
