One of WWE’s most popular partnerships is stepping aside, but not for the reasons fans might expect.
On the March 2 episode of WWE Raw, Rhea Ripley revealed that she and Iyo Sky are pressing pause on their tag team as the road to WrestleMania 42 intensifies. There was no betrayal, no tension, and no dramatic split. Instead, the decision comes down to Ripley’s pursuit of the WWE Women’s Championship.
Ripley secured her WrestleMania opportunity by winning the Elimination Chamber match, earning a title shot against Jade Cargill. With that goal in sight, Ripley made it clear her focus must now shift entirely to singles competition.
The announcement came just days after Ripley and Sky lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles to Nia Jax and Lash Legend on the February 27 episode of SmackDown. While the defeat marked a setback for both women, it signalled the beginning of a new chapter for Ripley.
How Did Rhea Ripley And Iyo Sky Announce The End Of Their Team On WWE Raw?
During an in-ring interview on WWE Raw, Rhea Ripley spoke emotionally about Iyo Sky, describing her not only as a tag partner but as a best friend who has stood by her through personal and professional challenges. The two shared an embrace, with Sky praising Ripley’s Elimination Chamber victory and reaffirming her belief in her partner.
Ripley responded by vowing to win the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42 and dedicate the victory to Sky.
Before then, however, Ripley has business to handle. She confirmed she will appear on SmackDown this Friday for a face-to-face confrontation with Jade Cargill.
While the team is on hold for now, it remains to be seen whether Sky will play a role in Ripley’s title pursuit as WrestleMania approaches.
