Former WWE star Patrick Clark, best known as Velveteen Dream, is set to make his professional boxing debut later this month. The former NXT North American Champion will face Pillow Talk podcast host Ryan Pownall in a cruiserweight bout at Duel: Arena 1 on August 29 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. The event will be headlined by Mike Perry and Dillon Danis competing under MMA rules. Duel Arena and Pownall announced Clark’s boxing debut on social media, although Clark had not publicly commented on the fight at the time of publication. The bout marks a move into combat sports five years after his WWE departure.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has thanked fans for their support ahead of undergoing brain surgery on August 12. The 74-year-old has been dealing with memory and balance problems and spent more than 30 days in hospital during May and June. Ross is scheduled to undergo a shunt procedure designed to drain excess fluid from his brain, and said he is optimistic it will improve his condition. The longtime commentator appeared at WrestleCon in Minneapolis during SummerSlam week and hopes to recover in time to travel to London for AEW All In on August 30. Ross is currently expected to spend just one day in hospital following the operation.
The August 3 episode of WWE Raw recorded 2.6 million global views on Netflix, up 200,000 from the previous week and the show’s highest total since May 18. Raw also generated 5.4 million hours viewed, its best figure in that category since June 1 and above the previous 10-week averages of 2.36 million views and 4.8 million hours. The episode, which had a listed runtime of two hours, featured World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, Oba Femi following his SummerSlam victory over Brock Lesnar, and the surprise returns of Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer. Raw ranked sixth globally on Netflix for the week.
