A frightening car accident in Japan has left a former WWE star injured, following what was already described as a chaotic night.
Taka Michinoku later revealed he was involved in the crash after struggling to locate both his wallet and house keys after a match, delaying his journey home, before another vehicle suddenly collided with his car.
“The airbag deployed but I took a hard hit to the face and was bleeding, so an ambulance was called,” he wrote. “My car can no longer drive. What the heck. What am I going to do for transportation starting tomorrow.”
Taka also shared images from the scene, showing damage to both vehicles on a wet road and the deployed airbags inside his car. In a follow-up update, he confirmed he suffered a concussion in the accident but still wrestled the following day, underlining the seriousness of the situation.
“Last night, concussion from a traffic accident. If I take a second impact with the same force right away, the mortality rate jumps by 50-70%,” he wrote. “A blow to the head can be fatal. It’s a literal life-or-death battle.”
Taka Michinoku’s Time In WWE
The 52-year-old Taka Michinoku is best known for his time in WWE, which began in 1997 at In Your House: Canadian Stampede and shortly after, he became the inaugural Light Heavyweight Champion by winning Brian Christopher in the finals of a tournament to crown the first champion.
Michinoku would join the faction Kaientai, and after Dick Togo, Mens Teioh and the Yamaguchis left the company, he would continue to team with Funaki under the Kaientai name until he left the promotion in 2001.
Taka currently competes primarily for New Japan Pro-Wrestling while also running his JTO promotion.
