Former WWE star Zelina Vega, now known as Xelina, has expressed frustration with how Triple H handled her reign as WWE Women’s United States Champion.
Zelina Vega captured the championship from Chelsea Green in 2025 and held the title for about 63 days before losing it to Giulia. Despite becoming champion, Vega had only one successful title defence during her reign, something she has since admitted left her disappointed. Speaking to D.S. Shin of Ring The Belle, Vega discussed her time as champion and revealed ambitious plans for the title that ultimately never materialised.
“I wish that he (Triple H) would have loved it on me enough to let me defend it the way I wanted to defend it. But it’s fine, because I wanted to go and bring it to AAA and f***ing STARDOM. Let me bring it to different places and really make this the workhorse title if that’s what we were gonna do,” Vega said.
Zelina Vega Wanted To Defend WWE Women’s United States Championship Outside WWE
Zelina Vega explained that she had hoped to establish the Women’s United States Championship as a workhorse title by defending it more frequently, including in promotions outside WWE.
Her plans included taking the championship to Mexico’s AAA and Japan’s STARDOM, allowing her to defend it against a wider range of opponents. However, those ambitions were never realised, with Vega’s championship reign ending after just over two months.
The former champion’s comments reflect her disappointment with the limited opportunities she had to establish the title during her reign. Vega ultimately parted ways with WWE in early 2026, ending her latest run with the company.
Her most recent match took place in April 2026, when she lost to Jordynne Grace. During her WWE career, Vega held both the Women’s United States Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
