A former WWE rival of John Cena has hinted at the possibility of facing him as part of his retirement tour.
As John Cena’s retirement tour enters the final stretch, one of his former rivals has teased the possibility of them having one more match before Cena hangs up his sneakers for good. The Miz, Cena’s rival in 2009 and 2011 for the WWE Championship, posted footage to Instagram of their 2009 rivalry and captioned the post:
“Are you thinking of me now….or do I need to remind you again?”
Hinting at the idea of them going at it once more before Cena’s retirement.
The Miz & John Cena’s WWE Rivalry
The Miz and Cena first feuded in 2009, with Miz claiming “wins” over Cena when Cena didn’t turn up for impromptu matches. However, Cena and Miz would go head-to-head at The Bash that year, and Cena would defeat The Miz in just over five minutes.
They would feud again in 2011, this time for the WWE Championship, and Miz was actually able to defend the title against Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 27. Cena would win the title back at Extreme Rules a month later by besting both Miz and John Morrison in a Steel Cage match. Cena then beat Miz in an I Quit Match at Over The Limit just 20 days later.
