A former WWE and ECW champion is reportedly set to make their AEW return during tonight’s AEW Dynamite and Collision TV tapings in Detroit, Michigan.
Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Rhino is expected to appear during AEW’s visit to his hometown of Detroit this week. According to PWInsider, the former WWE Hardcore and Tag Team champion is scheduled to be involved when AEW holds back-to-back events at the Masonic Temple Theater. AEW Dynamite will air live on July 29, followed by a special Thursday edition of AEW Collision on July 30. It is currently unclear which show he will appear on or what role he will play.
The appearance would mark another outing for Rhino in AEW rather than his debut. He previously competed for the promotion during its Detroit stop in May 2025, losing to Nick Wayne on Dynamite. He also wrestled in matches taped for Ring of Honor during the visit.
Away from AEW, The Man Beast has recently been featured in Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, appearing on the debut episode of the promotion’s Mayhem television series. He defeated Gama Singh Jr. on the inaugural show, which airs on TSN in Canada and MyAEW.com internationally.
He has also been making local media appearances throughout the week to promote AEW’s return to Detroit.
When Did Rhino Last Compete In WWE?
Rhino’s last run with WWE began in 2015 and ended in 2019. He started out his second run with the company in NXT and became a staple with the developmental brand until he joined the main roster to team with Heath Slater in 2016.
The master of the Gore initially began his second main roster run feuding with Slater until the two joined forces in the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Championship tournament, and the unlikely duo went on a dream run in the tournament and managed to defeat The Usos in the final to become the first SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
He left the company in 2019 when his contract expired, despite being offered a much more lucrative deal, as he wasn’t happy with how little he was being used by the promotion.
