A former WWE Champion has spoken about how they plan to begin in-ring training in January after a hiatus from the sport.
Speaking with the Toronto Sun, former WWE Divas Champion Saraya was asked if she had any plans of getting back in the wrestling ring after her hiatus from wrestling since her AEW contract expired in March.
Saraya said that she has enjoyed taking time away from the sport this year, but she has enjoyed getting involved in the wrestling world when she has done and that she is “starting to get the bug” for it again and that she plans to begin training again in January.
“I am starting to get the bug for it again. I went through a stage where I kind of fell out of love with it for a second. ‘I need to take a break from it,’ and that was the whole goal. I have found a new love and passion for it again. I am going to get into training in January, and we’ll see where that takes me.”
Saraya then said that WWE’s Natalya reached out to her and wants her to come down to her training school, The Dungeon, and that she agreed to train there.
“Nattie wants me to go down to the Dungeon. I was like, ‘Absolutely.’ I miss it. I love it. I think the percentage of me going back is a lot higher now. We’ll see where it goes.”
When Did Saraya Last Wrestle In WWE?
Saraya last wrestled in WWE on December 27, 2017, as part of a holiday house show where she teamed with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville against Bayley, Mickie James, and Sasha Banks and the match ended in a no-contest.
Saraya suffered a neck injury during her final WWE match and officially announced her retirement on the Raw after WrestleMania in April 2018. But she would return to the ring for AEW in 2022, wrestling Britt Baker at that year’s Full Gear pay-per-view.
