A former WWE Champion has recently signed a contract with AEW.
Fightful Select has reported that former WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Kayden Carter, now wrestling as Lacey Lane, recently signed a deal with AEW.
Lane made her AEW debut on the October 7 Title Tuesday special episode of Dynamite, where she faced Mercedes Mone for the TBS Title but was unable to get the victory. She also competed in Ring of Honor before her AEW debut, wrestling in a dark match on September 10 against Lena Kross, and on the September 25 episode of ROH on HonorClub against Mina Shirakawa for the Interim ROH Women’s World TV Title.
Lane was released by WWE on May 2, along with her tag partner, Katana Chance, as part of a wave of releases post-WrestleMania. This wave included notable releases such as Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Dakota Kai, and numerous NXT talent.
When Did Kayden Carter Sign With WWE?
Kayden Carter signed with WWE in 2018, making her debut in that year’s Mae Young Classic tournament. She then joined the NXT roster in 2019 and would go on to team with Katana Chance and capture the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship on the August 2, 2022, episode of NXT, winning a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match to capture the vacant title, and they would go on to have the longest reign of any team with the belts at 186 days.
Carter and Chance were called up to the main roster as part of the 2023 draft and joined the Raw brand and quickly began competing for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, a title they would capture on the December 18, 2023, episode of Raw from Chelsea Green and Piper Niven.
