Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, now wrestling as Raj Dhesi, has undergone knee surgery.
The former Jinder Mahal posted on Instagram yesterday, showing footage of his physiotherapy, and in the caption of the video, he stated that he had,
“Two loose bodies removed + meniscus trimmed.”
It is unknown how he suffered this injury, but Mahal has been wrestling on the independent circuit since his WWE release. Most recently, he wrestled for Dungeon Wrestling at their Wrestleween 3 event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he defeated Matt Riddle to retain his Stu Hart Heritage Title.
Mahal also added to the caption on his Instagram post that his surgery went well and he is now in the recovery stage.
When Was Jinder Mahal Released From WWE?
On April 19, 2024, Jinder Mahal was released from the WWE, along with numerous other stars, as part of the company’s annual post-WrestleMania roster cuts. Mahal had been with the company since 2016 after having previously been with the company from 2010 until his release in 2014. Mahal had a much more successful second run with the promotion, capturing the WWE Championship from Randy Orton at the 2017 Backlash pay-per-view, and held the title for 170 days, dropping it to AJ Styles on the November 7, 2014, episode of SmackDown.
