Former two-time WWE United States Champion and current AEW star MVP spoke about how Hall of Famer Mark Henry once nearly flipped a random car over during a night on the town.
MVP shared a remarkable story from his time on the road with WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, recalling a night in Italy when Henry’s strength left him stunned. Speaking on his Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze podcast, MVP said the pair were walking back to their hotel after having a drink when they passed a row of small two-door hatchbacks. MVP joked that Henry should flip one of the cars, and Henry decided to test the idea.
“He laughed about it, then walked over, squatted down and got one hand under the rear bumper,” MVP said. “I watched him lift the side of the car off the ground. The tyres came up, he dropped it back down and said, ‘Yeah, I could do that.’ And he could. I watched him lift the tyres up.”
MVP noted that Henry only began drinking socially later in life and was never out of control, despite the wild nature of the story. The two briefly teamed together in 2009 after MVP was drafted to Raw, challenging Chris Jericho and Big Show for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Breaking Point.
When Did Mark Henry Retire?
Mark Henry officially retired from in-ring competition in 2017, bringing an end to a 21-year WWE career. After years of reduced appearances, Henry confirmed on television that he was stepping away from active wrestling shortly before being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.
Although retired from the ring, he has since remained involved in the industry through commentary, talent development and on-screen roles outside of competition.
