A former WWE Intercontinental Champion has addressed growing fan speculation about a possible appearance at Clash in Italy later this month.
Santino Marella recently responded to an online discussion about the upcoming Clash in Italy event by suggesting that a return to Italy would feel especially meaningful given his WWE history in the country.
“It would be a full circle moment for sure,” Marella wrote on social media.
The upcoming premium live event will take place on May 31 at Turin’s Inalpi Arena and marks WWE’s first-ever PLE hosted in Italy.
Marella currently works for TNA Wrestling as the on-screen Director of Authority, but has remained connected to WWE programming through the ongoing partnership between TNA and NXT.
When Did Santino Marella Make His WWE Debut?
The former Intercontinental Champion famously made his televised WWE debut in Italy back in 2007 during an episode of Raw from Milan. That night, Santino Marella shocked fans by defeating Umaga, with help from Bobby Lashley, to win the Intercontinental Championship in his very first match with the company.
Marella would go on to become a two-time Intercontinental Champion during his WWE career, while also capturing the United States Championship and Tag Team Championship alongside Vladimir Kozlov.
With WWE now preparing to run its first major event in Italy nearly two decades after Marella’s debut there, fans have increasingly speculated about the possibility of him making an appearance at the show.
