Joe Doering‘s family has shared a heartbreaking update on the former TNA star’s health.
According to a message posted on Joe Doering’s GoFundMe page by his sister-in-law, Mandy Banh, the 44-year-old is preparing to enter hospice care as he continues his third battle with brain cancer.
“Sad to share the news that Joe is heading to hospice soon,” Banh wrote. “If anyone is local & would want to visit, please send a message. Joe could use all your good thoughts and prayers.”
Doering was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016. After successfully returning to the ring, he revealed in 2022 that the disease had returned and that he would require further surgery.
Last November, Banh launched a GoFundMe campaign and disclosed that Doering was battling a third brain tumour. She also detailed some of the challenges he has faced since undergoing surgery in 2022.
According to Banh, the operation, which was performed on Doering’s brain stem, resulted in ataxia affecting the right side of his body and significantly impacting his mobility.
“Joe works very hard with physiotherapy; however, he mostly uses his wheelchair in his day-to-day life,” Banh wrote. “This has been a great change, as one would imagine, from being a professional sports athlete.”
Despite those challenges, Banh said Doering has remained positive throughout his battle.
“Joe has remained determined, focused, and most of all, in good spirits,” she wrote. “He chooses not to feel sorry for himself and battles his journey very privately.”
Joe Doering’s Pro Wrestling Career
Although he spent a brief period under a WWE developmental contract in 2010, Joe Doering is best known for his success in All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he captured the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship twice.
He later joined TNA Wrestling in 2020 as part of the Violent By Design faction, becoming a familiar face to fans during one of the promotion’s most successful recent periods.
