A former AEW Women’s World Champion has confirmed that they are back on the road after being sidelined with an injury since July 2025.
Thunder Rosa has confirmed she is officially back with AEW and fully reintegrated into the company following her injury layoff. In a vlog uploaded on January 18, 2026, the former AEW Women’s World Champion revealed that she has completed her first week of training and is once again travelling with the promotion after months of recovery and rehabilitation. Rosa had been sidelined with an undisclosed injury, but said the transition back into full-time work is already well underway.
“I had my training already. The first week, we did okay, but we’re back on the road. The next stop is Atlanta,” Rosa said. “All right, guys, so I told you that I’m back at AEW.”
The vlog was filmed backstage at last week’s episode of Dynamite, where Rosa was seen interacting with Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm, reinforcing that her return extends beyond physical conditioning. The footage showed Rosa rejoining the locker room environment and taking part in the day-to-day rhythm of AEW television, suggesting she is edging closer to an eventual in-ring return.
Rosa also detailed the intensity of her current training schedule as she works towards full match readiness.
“I’m here at AEW getting ready to warm up for my second week of training,” she said. “I want to make sure I’m totally warmed up because we’re going to do half an hour in the ring. So that’s what we’re doing. In the meantime, I’ve got to run the stairs.”
The update follows months of social media posts throughout late 2025 in which Rosa hinted that her return was approaching. With training complete and travel resumed, the former champion now appears firmly back within AEW’s ecosystem and closing in on her first match since the injury setback.
Thunder Rosa’s Personal Life During AEW Injury Layoff
Alongside recovering from her injury, Thunder Rosa has undergone difficulties in her personal life, as she announced in November last year that her marriage of 14 years was coming to an end.
Rosa has been married to Brian Cervantes since 2006, and she adopted his son, who was born in August 2005. Rosa stated that the couple had separated due to changes in their relationship, and that despite the separation, they remain friendly and respectful of each other.
