A major surprise unfolded during the AEW World Tag Team Championship match at AEW Forbidden Door, with an unexpected return helping Adam Copeland and Christian Cage retain their titles.
The champions were defending against The Dogs’ David Finlay and Clark Connors when the bout took a dramatic turn in its closing moments. After Finlay struck Christian Cage with a shillelagh, he attempted to use the weapon on Copeland before the arena lights suddenly went out.
When the lights partially returned, The Bang Bang Gang appeared on the entrance stage while a mysterious figure entered the ring. Moments later, the lights came fully back on to reveal Jay White, making his long-awaited return to AEW television.
White immediately confronted Finlay and planted him with the Blade Runner. Copeland then capitalised with a Spear to secure the pinfall and retain the World Tag Team Championship alongside Christian Cage.

Following the match, Jay White handed the championship belts to the winners, although there was a noticeable moment of tension between him and Christian Cage before the show moved on.
The return marked White’s first AEW appearance in more than a year. His last match came in March 2025 against Kevin Knight before being sidelined, with weeks of social media teases leading to his comeback at Forbidden Door.
