Former three-time WWE Tag Team Champions, who haven’t teamed together since 2004, reunited at an independent show on Saturday.
Ron Simmons and JBL reunited as The APA at the Wildkat Sports Revolution Rumble show on Saturday night to confront two of the wrestlers on the show. Footage of the former WWE tag team at the event was shared via Instagram, and in the footage, one of the wrestlers can be heard shouting “get him” to JBL and Simmons while pointing at the other wrestler in the ring who is holding a chair.
JBL snatches the chair from the competitor as the other continues to shout, “Get him.” JBL then hands the chair to Simmons and walks behind the shouting wrestler before JBL grabs his arm, spins him around, and delivers a Clothesline From Hell as the wrestler who was holding the chair watches on. JBL is then given a microphone and says a few words before he and Simmons exit the ring to cheers from the crowd.
When Did The APA Win Their WWE Tag Team Titles?
The APA won their first WWE Tag Team Championship when they were called The Acolytes and were aligned with The Undertaker as part of his Ministry of Darkness. They defeated X-Pac and Kane for their first tag team title on the May 25, 1999, episode of Raw.
They lost the belts to The Hardy Boyz on the June 29 episode of the same year, and won them back from the Hardys on the July 25 pay-per-view Fully Loaded, before losing them back to X-Pac and Kane on the August 9 episode of Raw.
They wouldn’t have their third run with the belts until the July 9, 2001, Raw, where they defeated The Dudley Boyz and would lose the championship to Diamond Dallas Page and Kanyon on the August 7 episode of SmackDown.
