Finn Balor has no plans to follow the growing trend of wrestlers crossing over into combat sports.
Speaking during a press conference promoting Zuffa Boxing 10, the WWE star was asked whether he had any interest in competing in boxing or mixed martial arts. While Finn Balor expressed respect for athletes in both disciplines, he made it clear that he intends to remain focused on his wrestling career.
“Well, obviously I have the utmost respect for the gentlemen that are up here beside me,” Balor said. “I wouldn’t take it lightly stepping in the ring with some of the boxers, or the cage with the fighters.”
Balor went on to praise the dedication and discipline required to compete at the highest level in combat sports.
“They’re very disciplined guys. They know exactly what they’re doing. I’d rather stay exactly in my lane in WWE, thank you very much.”
The comments come at a time when crossover appearances between WWE, UFC and boxing have become increasingly common under the TKO Group Holdings banner. However, Balor appears content to leave those opportunities to others.
Finn Balor’s Near 25-Year Pro Wrestling Career
The 44-year-old Finn Balor has built one of the most accomplished careers in modern wrestling, enjoying success in WWE, NXT and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. His list of achievements includes winning the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, capturing the NXT Championship and becoming WWE’s inaugural Universal Champion.
Balor also possesses a black belt in IBF submission wrestling, giving him a legitimate background in combat sports. Despite that experience, he has no desire to test himself in a professional boxing ring or MMA cage.
Instead, Balor remains committed to the profession that has made him a global star, making it clear that his future remains firmly inside the squared circle.
