The ex-wife of a former WWE developmental talent, Kevin Nikel, has had murder charges against her dropped.
Amanda Penny is now facing charges of hindering apprehension, prosecution. conviction or punishment of another, as well as possession of firearms.
She has been released but has been barred from having any contact with Nikel’s family and must report in for 8-10 months of counseling.
Michael Hogue, Penny’s partner, has been charged with shooting and killing Nikel, 41, after an argument.
Nikel, known as Knuckles Madsen, was a WWE developmental talent under the NXT brand.
In an interview with 5NEWS, Nikel’s mom, Susan Kinderman, said: “There was some kind of an argument. Maybe there was texting going back and forth. I think they enticed Kevin to meet up with them. I was told by the detectives that there was some kind of altercation. Shots were fired, and Kevin was killed, and that’s all we really know.”
Amanda and Kevin divorced just days before the shooting.
“She was his first friend that he met in high school. They were dating, then they got married. They were happy for a long time, and then I guess they started to grow apart. And, you know, neither one of them were happy. Kevin took a job where he could be gone two weeks at a time, and things just progressively got worse, until they divorced,” Kinderman also commented.
5NEWS also reported that a court filing claims Penny and Hogue had been living together at the time of the murder.
