WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has spoken about what the late Hulk Hogan was like to be around behind the scenes.
Eric Bischoff has pushed back strongly against long-standing criticism of Hulk Hogan, offering a very different portrait of the wrestling icon away from the cameras. Speaking during a 2023 appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, the former WCW president and WWE Hall of Fame inductee said the negative public narrative surrounding Hogan does not match his personal experiences. According to Bischoff, Hogan has consistently shown kindness and generosity throughout the decades in the business.
“There’s a narrative about who Hulk Hogan is, and it’s the farthest thing from the truth,” Bischoff said. “Hulk is one of the kindest, most generous, and caring individuals.”
Bischoff recalled countless moments where Hogan put others ahead of himself, even during private meals or important conversations. He noted that when fans or colleagues interrupted to speak with Hogan, the former world champion always made time to ensure they left feeling valued.
“That doesn’t benefit Hulk,” Bischoff explained. “But he cares.”
The comments challenge the perceptions many fans have formed over the years. Hogan became one of the most recognisable figures in wrestling during the 1980s boom period, though his legacy has since been complicated by off-screen controversies. Bischoff’s account, however, paints a far more human picture of the man behind the character.
Which WWE Executive Said Hulk Hogan Thought He Was A Failure After WrestleMania 6?
WWE executive Bruce Prichard spoke about how Hulk Hogan thought he’d failed after his WrestleMania 6 WWE Title loss to The Ultimate Warrior, as Prichard said Hogan was nervous to go out in front of a crowd after the famous bout.
He thought that, due to Warrior not being fully invested in the wrestling business the same way he was, he’d failed because Warrior didn’t get as over as Hogan had been in the mid to late 1980s.
