Eric Bischoff believes a current WWE storyline stands above every other storyline in professional wrestling history.
Speaking on an episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW executive praised the long-running angle and argued that no other storyline can match what WWE has accomplished with Roman Reigns, The Usos, Solo Sikoa, and the rest of the Bloodline cast.
“I think The Bloodline storyline is absolutely the best storyline that’s ever been produced, written and produced in this industry,” Eric Bischoff said. “Nothing’s even close.”
While Bischoff stopped short of claiming the storyline has had a greater impact on the wrestling business than the New World Order, he maintained that the overall quality of the Bloodline narrative surpasses anything that has come before it.
“Doesn’t mean it’ll have the same impact in the industry as the nWo did, for a lot of other reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the story,” he added.
Eric Bischoff Credits The Character Work As To Why The Bloodline Story Has Been Such A Success
Eric Bischoff credited much of the storyline’s success to the depth of characters involved, comparing the group to the cast of a major film.
“Look at the cast of characters you have to work with,” he said. “If you were casting a movie, and this was a wrestling movie, would you look at that cast and say, ‘Hmmm, I think we can find a writer who can write a pretty good story,’ with those characters? We can make a movie.”
The Bloodline story has remained one of WWE’s central narratives for several years and continues to evolve. Recent developments have seen Solo Sikoa looking to strengthen his side of the family while Jacob Fatu has aligned himself with Roman Reigns, setting the stage for another chapter in the ongoing Bloodline conflict.
With WWE reportedly building toward a major showdown involving the two factions at SummerSlam, Bischoff believes the company still has plenty of material to work with as the story continues.
