The reason Drew McIntyre was written off of WWE TV on last Friday’s SmackDown has been revealed.
On Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre was suspended by General Manager Nick Aldis after he interfered in the main event match between Aleisteir Black and Cody Rhodes, delivering a Calymore Kick to the referee to end the match in a no contest.
After laying out the ref, McIntyre and Rhodes brawled, and then Black joined in the assault, assisting McIntyre to beat down the Undisputed WWE Champion. Damian Priest came out to even the odds, and as they all brawled, Aldis came onto the entrance ramp and suspended McIntyre to close the show.
Why Has Drew McIntyre Been Written Off WWE TV?
The reason that this angle was done and Drew McIntyre was written off of TV has been spoken about by Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, who said the reason WWE did this is because McIntyre is going off to film a movie.
The movie in question is likely Chad Stahelski’s ‘Highlander’, as news came out in September that McIntyre had been cast as the lead character’s brother, the lead character is being portrayed by Henry Cavill of The Witcher and Superman fame. Dave Batista has also been cast in the movie.
