Drew McIntyre says he has no intention of slowing down, insisting he still feels at the top of his game both physically and creatively in WWE.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Drew McIntyre addressed turning 40 in 2025 and made it clear he does not view age as a limitation in today’s era of elite athletes.
“I mean, I know my wife feels like it’s going to be a lot shorter than I probably feel it’s going to be,” McIntyre said. “But as long as I’m happy, as long as she’s happy, and as long as the fans are happy with what I’m doing, I don’t see any reason to slow down any time soon.”
McIntyre pointed to modern examples of longevity in sport, referencing stars such as LeBron James and Cristiano Ronaldo as proof that athletes can continue performing at a high level into their 40s.
“Especially when I see guys getting up there in age right now and moving as well as they’re moving… Look at LeBron James or Ronaldo, for example, the same age as me and they’re just still at the top of their game.”
Drew McIntyre Reflects On His Recent Undisputed WWE Title Run
Drew McIntyre also reflected on his most recent Undisputed WWE Championship reign, which began with a surprise victory in Berlin before he eventually dropped the title back to Cody Rhodes.
“Awesome. Nobody saw it coming for one,” McIntyre said. “I think everybody assumed that the Cody Express would keep moving on forward… but there needed to be a shakeup.”
He added that the title change helped refresh Rhodes’ character, forcing him back into a chasing role.
“It put Cody in a position where he had to chase. Gave Cody a bit of that edge back, which in my opinion he desperately needed.”
McIntyre is now set for an Unsanctioned Match against Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42, while Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at the same event in Las Vegas.
