Dominik Mysterio was briefly and mistakenly presented as an AEW Champion during a video segment that aired on Saturday’s AAA television premiere in Latin America.
The moment occurred during an AI-enhanced vignette that aired on AAA’s FOX Latin America debut, which featured Dominik Mysterio reflecting on his success within the promotion while cutting promo-style remarks aimed at high-profile celebrities, including Canelo Alvarez and Bad Bunny. During the sequence, one animated image flashed on screen showing Mysterio wearing a championship belt clearly bearing the AEW logo, creating immediate confusion among viewers.
Mysterio remains both the AAA Mega Champion and WWE Intercontinental Champion, and the image was widely viewed as a production error tied to the AI-generated visuals used in the segment rather than an intentional tease or storyline development.
The appearance comes while Mysterio remains sidelined with a shoulder injury suffered at AAA’s Guerra de Titanes event last month. WWE acknowledged the injury on the following episode of Raw, initially stating that Mysterio would be out indefinitely. Subsequent reports clarified that surgery would not be required and that his absence is expected to last only a few weeks.
Elsewhere on the same AAA broadcast, El Hijo del Vikingo earned a future shot at the Mega Championship by defeating El Grande Americano with assistance from Omos. With Mysterio recovering and now facing a new challenger, AAA’s title picture continues to develop despite the unexpected production hiccup.
When Did Dominik Mysterio Win The AAA Mega Title?
Dominik Mysterio won the AAA Mega Championship at the AAA x WWE Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 12, 2025, defeating El Hijo del Vikingo to capture the title. Prior to picking up his injury in December, Mysterio defended the title on October 25 at the AAA Heroes Inmortales event against Dragon Lee.
El Hijo del Vikingo previously won the title back from Alberto El Patron on May 31, 2025, after he had vacated the title due to injury on March 17, 2024, ending his 833-day reign as champion, having won the title way back on December 4, 2021, at AAA TripleMania Regia.
