Dominik Mysterio has revealed the real reason he wears a vest during his WWE matches, admitting it offers him some protection against the hard-hitting style of his opponents.
Speaking on the Amigos Toxicos podcast, the reigning AAA Mega Champion discussed a range of topics, including his demanding WWE schedule, childhood memories of playing Grand Theft Auto and his thoughts on Eddie Guerrero memorabilia.
During the interview, Dominik Mysterio was asked whether he would ever consider wrestling shirtless. While he said he would be open to the idea, he explained why he prefers to compete wearing a vest.
“Do you know why I wear the vest and stuff? Cuz like I’m tall, but I’m not as big as the other guys. So, very easy target. So, having a very easy target, I like to be covered up. My chest piece has like, some of it has like small padding.”

Dominik Mysterio also recalled one occasion when the protective gear was taken away from him in the ring.
“When I wrestled Gunther one time, he ripped that off. He ripped it off so that way he can hit my bare chest.”
The Judgment Day member went on to name Gunther and Penta as the two wrestlers who have delivered the hardest chops he has experienced during his career.
