A new backstage report has claimed Dominik Mysterio is frustrated with his current creative direction in WWE following a difficult SummerSlam weekend.
According to Self Made Pro, speaking on Self Made Session, the former Intercontinental Champion believes the version of his character featured in AAA has been far more successful than what has been presented on WWE television.
“Dom thinks his creative sucks. He does not understand why the AAA version of his presentation doesn’t correlate into the main roster TV. He doesn’t get it.”
The report comes after Mysterio’s Human Monies on a Pole match against Danhausen at SummerSlam Night Two received widespread criticism from fans. The bout drew backlash over its comedic presentation and stipulation, with many viewers ranking it among the weakest matches of the two-night event.
The criticism has also been reflected online, with the match receiving a low user rating on Cagematch in the days following SummerSlam.
Dominik Mysterio Reportedly Questioning Why His AAA Character Is Vastly Different To His WWE Character
The report notes that Dominik Mysterio is questioning why elements of his AAA character have not carried over to Raw, particularly after previously enjoying momentum on WWE television with high-profile victories over stars including John Cena and AJ Styles.
No changes to Mysterio’s creative direction have been reported, and there is no indication he is looking to leave WWE. However, the report suggests the current Judgment Day leader believes he is capable of more than what has recently been presented on WWE programming.
