Tony Khan is proud that AEW is working on developing Sting’s son, Steven Borden, as a pro wrestler.
At AEW Revolution in 2024, Steven Borden Jr. accompanied his father, Sting, to the ring for the legendary star’s final match. Borden appeared in Sting’s Wolfpac outfit, while his brother Garret came out as Surfer Sting. The brothers got involved in the bout, hitting Stinger Splashes on The Young Bucks to help out their father and Darby Allin.
Since then, Steven Borden has caught the wrestling bug and has been training with Allin. He made his debut for Awesome Championship Wrestling in October 2025, teaming with JD Drake in a losing effort against Allin and Killer Kross.
He has also competed in several dark matches for AEW, most recently teaming up with QT Marshall to defeat Nathan Cruz and Rosario Grillo ahead of the January 21st edition of Dynamite. Notably, Borden has been using ‘Turbo Charged’ as his theme, the same music Sting entered to early in his WCW days.
During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Tony Khan explained that it was his idea to use the theme as he thought it would be a “really cool” gesture for Borden.
“I wanted to use that song. It was my idea. It’s a song that was in a library and we made a deal to get a certain number of plays. We haven’t used it on air yet but, we have a deal to use ‘Turbo Charged,’ which is a track that was available through a music library and I love licensing great music and that’s one of my favorite songs from my childhood. I think about it all the time and I thought it would be really cool for Steven (Borden) to come out to it.”
‘Developing Steven Borden Is A Huge Priority To Me And Everyone In AEW’ – Tony Khan
Continuing, Khan confirmed that Borden is being developed as a pro wrestler for AEW, something he sees as a “huge priority.”
“Steven still has never been on AEW TV, but he’s somebody we’re developing and I have so much respect for Steven. He’s a rising young wrestler. He played college football at Kentucky. I followed his football career and now I’m proud to say we’re working on developing him as a pro wrestler for AEW… Developing him for the future is a huge priority to me and everyone in AEW.”
While Tony Khan stopped short of confirming if he has officially signed with the promotion, Steven Borden was reportedly nearing an AEW deal in December. At that time, his in-ring development and physical conditioning were already receiving praise.
