Dave Meltzer has provided an update on the health of WWE Hall of Famer Abdullah the Butcher after it was announced last week that he had been admitted to the hospital.
Dave Meltzer spoke in the latest episode of “Wrestling Observer Radio” about the health of the 84-year-old WWE Hall of Famer, Abdullah the Butcher, after he was admitted to the hospital on October 24, facing serious health concerns.
At the time, it was not known what health issues Abdullah was facing, but now Meltzer has shed some light on his health, stating that the Canadian wrestling legend suffered two strokes. Meltzer said:
“He’s doing better. He had two strokes from what I understand. But he’s, he’s doing better, so that’s good news. I mean, you know, eighty-four.”
Meltzer spoke about how Abdullah was quite a heavy-set wrestler throughout his career, having been billed at 330-360 pounds, and how that may have contributed to his health issues, but did state the fact that Abdullah has lost a lot of weight since his wrestling retirement. He said:
“Yeah, I mean, he was very, very heavy, like, very heavy for decades, but still going, and he’s lost a lot, a lot of weight. Thank God, and, yeah, he’s recovering well, that’s good news.”
Yesterday’s Update On Abdullah The Butcher’s Health
An update was provided yesterday on Abdullah the Butcher’s health by Steve Stasiak via his Book Pro Wrestlers Twitter account, the same account that initially reported that Abdullah had been admitted to the hospital on October 24, with a picture of Abdullah awake and smiling in his hospital bed. The caption alongside the photo stated that Abdullah was awake and recovering well.
