Wrestling fans on social media are criticizing Dave Meltzer’s reaction to last night’s tribute to Benjamin (Pac) Satterly on AEW Dynamite.
Meltzer posted on X: “That was the best wrestling TV show ever. And there isn’t a close second either.”
That was the best wrestling TV show ever. And there isn’t a close second either.

The preeminent wrestling historian is widely known for his “star ratings” of matches. While some defended Melzter’s comment, others thought it was inappropriate and ill-timed.
Some wrote:
He watched the show, he liked the show, people are offended.

Why are you ranking wrestling tributes to fallen wrestlers? What the hell is wrong with you?
No one did this. ONLY YOU.
You’re such a weird person. YOU’RE THE PROBLEM.

Tribute shows should be exempt from your stupid ratings lad no matter how good or bad they are
You are just an absolute vulture trying to profit off a tragedy

Ranking these is weird as hell Dave sort it out! It’s a tribute to a man who was world class at his craft and respected and loved by colleagues of the company and beyond! You don’t help yourself with shit posts like this.

It’s a tribute show to a recently deceased wrestler.
Why are your ranking it? pic.twitter.com/RDk2KLmkmh— Ryan ‘All Day News’ Anderson (@Ryans_Ramblings) October 1, 2026
Everyone should google Dave’s Review on Owen Hart tribute show in 1999 and see the difference on how he reported that show and this one and the difference.

Definitely the most emotion I’ve felt watching a wrestling show, the show was perfect top to bottom
— Omni (@allegoomnilad) October 1, 2026
If you go back and read Dave’s observer issue regarding Over The Edge and Owen’s Raw Tribute. You’d read that dave thinks its distasteful and disrespectful; to rank and rate a tribute show and its matches.
Wonder what changed$$$

In his response to the criticism, Meltzer doubled down, dismissing anyone who disagreed with him stating: “Unfortunately, because of what I wrote, it would trigger people who have lost their minds.”

That response generated more push back:
With all due respect your comment is tone def. Tribute shows should NOT be compared to each other. They shouldnt be rated, starred, or argued about. Its like saying a wake for my Dad was better then the wake for my Uncle. So I guess I lost my mind…
— Vanmetal (@theJasonNatwick) October 1, 2026
Why did they lose their minds? Because they don’t share your opinion? They hate on you for belittle them for having a different opinion. Either way its become more about that and tribalism than about PAC. But you knew what response you’d get…you’re not that dumb.
