Darby Allin has opened up on his emotional journey to the top of Mount Everest.
In May 2025, Darby Allin achieved his goal of conquering Mount Everest. The star let fans by posting a picture from the summit with his team holding an AEW flag at the top of the world.
Allin had originally planned to make the climb in 2024; However, that March, the star broke three bones in his foot in a match against Jay White, forcing him to put that plan on hold.
Speaking about his experiences during an appearance on 11Alive, Allin revealed that the injury was actually a blessing in disguise. Before that, he had been so focussed on the summit of Everest, he says he was missing out on the journey to get there.
“So fast forward- a lot of people said that should be a sign not to climb Mount Everest (Breaking his foot), and I said, ‘no, absolutely. That’s a sign to work harder and then hit it harder.’ Because with Mount Everest, the first time I was just thinking about the summit. I wasn’t thinking about the journey. I was just thinking about the summit. I get to the summit, I gotta get to the summit. But when I broke my foot, it made me stop and smell the roses about what the journey actually is.”
When he began the process again this year, the two-time TNT Champion had a new appreciation for the experience. When he did make it to the summit, Allin admits he broke down in tears.
“So I was so much more grateful for the experience the second time around and it was, it was insane. It was very humbling. I got to the summit and I just started crying. It was just couldn’t put it into words, like how amazing that felt and the fact that I was able to do it in the middle of my career, the fact that AEW gave me the time to take off in the middle of my career, as opposed to keeping me on the machine where you got to do this, you got to do that. Cause you keep doing that. You keep living your life like that, and next thing you know, you’re living your life for someone else and not yourself, and then this machine’s going to chew you up and spit you out one day.
“But if you let it take you, it’s going to leave you with nothing. But if you keep yourself intact, you’ll be just got to stay humble and grounded.”
After reaching the highest summit in the world, Mount Everest, @DarbyAllin planted an AEW flag!
