Danhausen is jokingly taking credit for Spain’s victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after revealing before the final that he had placed one of his trademark “curses” on Argentina. Spain went on to defeat the defending champions 1-0 to lift the trophy, prompting the WWE star to claim another successful curse. Following Spain’s World Cup triumph, Danhausen joked that he had now “won” the NBA, NHL and FIFA World Cup in the same year, with fans continuing to embrace the viral running joke online.

Danhausen’s running gag has gained momentum, with fans also crediting him with “uncursing” the New York Knicks before they ended their 50-year wait for an NBA Championship. Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns later appeared at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, where Towns helped Danhausen defeat JD McDonagh by chokeslamming both McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio.

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes‘ rivalry escalated during WWE’s SummerSlam Kickoff show after a failed attempt at reconciliation ended in a physical confrontation.
