It seems the event is still expected to take place in Riyadh just at a different venue due to ongoing security concerns there. Where it has been moved to is unknown.
The violence in Saudi Arabia has increased over the last day or so with the country facing missile and drone attacks linked to Yemen’s Houthi movement. The Houthis claimed they launched a missile at the Ras Tanura refinery, one of Saudi Arabia’s major oil facilities.
Yesterday, Saudi air defenses destroyed two missiles heading toward Riyadh and three targeting the Eastern Province. Explosions were heard in the capital and falling debris damaged a building, a construction site and a vehicle.
The United States Government continues with a Level 3 travel advisory for Saudi Arabia advising traveler to reconsider “travel to Saudi Arabia due to risk of drone and missile targeting of American interests by Iran and the Iranian-supported Houthis, armed conflict, terrorism, exit bans, and local laws regarding social media activity.”
It is also stated: “Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions. The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly beyond that immediate area. There is risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other activity in Saudi Arabia.”
Days ago, the Department of State ordered non-emergency U.S. government employees and U.S. government employee family members to leave Saudi Arabia due to safety risks.
