Could The Rock be the one to ruin John Cena’s final match tonight? Some fans seem to think so.
Not only has the WWE acknowledged The Rock and Cena’s rivalry many times on social media this week but in the “What to watch in John Cena’s Final Match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event”, WWE.com and Pat McAfee Show contributor Mark Kaboly shared these thoughts.
Kaboly wrote: “But… what if this wasn’t, in fact, Cena’s last match. All this press he’s been doing, hammering home that this is it for him, it’s just a ploy to make the reveal as shocking as his turn to the dark side 10 months ago. What if it comes full circle from WWE Elimination Chamber? The Rock returns and informs Cena that he wants his soul now, and as his Final Boss, this will be settled at WrestleMania 42 – a rubber match at WrestleMania that is 13 years in the making. Could you imagine?”.
Many fans believe that Cena deserves a better send-off than a SNME match and it seems that very well could happen.
The Rock was the main factor in John Cena turning heel at Elimination Chamber last year and their angle has never really been settled. In terms of their in-ring history, The Rock and John Cena are in a deadlocked tie. The Rock defeated John Cena in the “Once in a Lifetime” match headlining WrestleMania XXVIII and John Cena defeated The Rock to win the WWE Championship in the WrestleMania XXIX main event.
Has their “rubber match” been planned all along? Will “The Final Boss” square off against “The Champ” at WrestleMania?
We will have to tune into SNME tonight to see.
