On SmackDown last Friday, McIntyre was scheduled to face Jacob Fatu to determine who would be the number one contender to face Rhodes at SNME; however, after McIntyre’s entrance, footage was shown of Fatu backstage pinned under a truss with blood around his mouth and what appeared to be teeth on the floor next to him, rendering him unable to compete. This storyline injury was used to write Fatu off of TV while he recovers from an actual undisclosed dental injury, and he is expected to be out of action for at least a month.
Cody Rhodes And Drew McIntyre’s WWE Singles Match History
Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre have only faced each other in singles action in WWE twice before last Friday, with the first time being on the February 19, 2024, episode of Monday Night Raw, with McIntyre getting the better of Rhodes. They then faced each other just last month at Wrestlepalooza for the Undisputed Title, and this time Rhodes walked away as the victor. Rhodes and McIntyre have faced each other one-on-one before these two times; however, as they clashed at a WCPW show in Coventry, England, back in 2017, with Rhodes winning that match also.
