Cody Rhodes believes his story with The Rock is far from over, but says there may be more than one way for it to reach its conclusion.
Speaking during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the Undisputed WWE Champion reflected on his ongoing rivalry with The Rock following their memorable WrestleMania 40 programme.
When asked whether he feels the need to settle his issues with The Rock before the end of his wrestling career, Cody Rhodes admitted he still views their rivalry as unfinished.
“I don’t want to give it an absolute and say that we do have to settle that, but I think it’s an unfinished story,” Rhodes said. “There’s probably two unfinished stories that are out there, and they don’t always get finished.”
Cody Rhodes Believes His Story With The Rock Could Finish On A Movie Screen Instead Of Inside A WWE Ring
While many fans hope to see Cody Rhodes and The Rock eventually meet in a one-on-one match, Rhodes suggested there is another way he could complete the story.
According to Rhodes, one ending would see the rivalry concluded inside a WWE ring, while another could see the rivalry come to an end outside of wrestling by following The Rock’s path into television and Hollywood.
“There’s a version of this where finishing that story is me trying to be as successful as I possibly can be, follow a bit of, if not a lot of, his lead, break into TV and Hollywood and do something that he thought only he could do, and do that to honour him,” Rhodes said.
He acknowledged, however, that wrestling fans would likely prefer a more traditional conclusion.
“Then there’s a version of it that’s probably more appealing to a wrestling fan where the Final Boss shows back up, and there’s more, there’s more on the rose than a non-ending.”
Rhodes has already expanded into acting in recent years, but recently indicated he has no plans to reduce his WWE schedule in the near future. The champion has said he intends to remain a full-time performer until another star is ready to take over as the face of the company.
