Sami Zayn’s reign as WWE Undisputed Champion is over after just nine days.
Zayn was supposed to face Cody Rhodes for the championship on tonight’s Raw but Rhodes was taken out by an angry, disgruntled Gunther.
Raw GM Adam Pearce met with Zayn later on in the broadcast telling him he would defend the title tonight against a mystery opponent.
Raw was in Chicago so…it was pretty obvious who would be stepping up to the plate.
At the conclusion of their match, Punk hit Zayn with whip into a corner and the running knee to the face. Zayn missed a Helluva Kick but Punk didn’t miss with his. Punk pinned Zayn with the GTS.
This is Punk’s third reign as WWE Undisputed Champion.
It is assumed that Punk will put up the title against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.
