While the CM Punk of 10 years ago would be critical of Logan Paul, today, he sees value in The Maverick.
Logan Paul has proved to be a polarising star in and out of the ring, thanks to lawsuits, controversial blogs, and even getting banned from the country of Egypt. Fans have also been critical of Paul’s rapid rise in WWE, having had high-profile main events and held the US Championship for 273 days despite having no experience in the wrestling industry before signing with the promotion.
Recently, the star has been involved in the rivalry between CM Punk and The Vision. At Survivor Series, the pair were on opposite sides of the ring, as Paul teamed with The Vision, Brock Lesnar, and Drew McIntyre to defeat Punk, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Usos.
In a new interview with Barstool’s Chef Donny, Punk gave his thoughts on Paul. After admitting that a decade ago he would have been first in line to criticise the star, he now has a different mindset, seeing money in how much fans hate him.
“I think it’s a benefit. I understand the criticisms and I would probably be levying them heavy against him if I was CM Punk from like ten years ago, but to see him take it seriously and want to do more — but the way the business is now, it’s almost like pump the brakes, you don’t need to do more.
“It’s fascinating because everybody hates this dude and I think that’s one of the more admirable things about him, is how much everybody hates him. In our business, that means money. That’s dollars.”
CM Punk To Defend WWE World Heavyweight Championship Against Bron Breakker
On January 5th, CM Punk will face his biggest challenge from The Vision yet, as Bron Breakker challenges him for the World Heavyweight Title. The match came about as a direct result of the young star pinning Punk to win the WarGames match at Survivor Series. Punk has only held the title since November 1st, but the meteoric rise of Breakker in WWE is a serious threat to the Straight Edge Superstar.
