CM Punk has identified what he believes to be the greatest match of his career, and it is not the bout many fans might expect.
Speaking on WWE Now, CM Punk reflected on his long in-ring run and pointed to his 2013 WWE Raw match against John Cena in Dallas as his personal standout.
“I think Money In The Bank is more of a moment. I think, just as a pure contest, that match, I think it was Dallas, that match means a whole lot more to me. I think that’s the best match I’ve ever had,” Punk said.
Punk’s comments may come as a surprise given the lasting legacy of his clash with Cena at WWE Money in the Bank 2011, where he defeated Cena to win the WWE Championship in a bout widely regarded as one of the defining matches of his career. That contest, held in Chicago, is often viewed as a turning point that elevated Punk to a new level within WWE.
However, Punk made it clear that while the 2011 encounter carried greater significance as a moment, he considers their 2013 meeting to be superior from an in-ring perspective. The match, which determined the number one contender for a WrestleMania title opportunity, saw Punk defeat Cena in a critically praised performance.
CM Punk & John Cena’s Rivalry Continued Following Punk’s Return To WWE
The rivalry between CM Punk and John Cena has continued in recent years. They met again in 2025 at WWE Night of Champions 2025, where Cena emerged victorious to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
