CM Punk isn’t going anywhere, and he doesn’t care if that upsets his detractors.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event, John Cena wrestled his final match and retired from pro wrestling. To the shock of fans around the world, the bout saw Cena tap out to Gunther after the Ring General locked him into a sleeper hold that the veteran couldn’t find a way out of.
Things didn’t end there, though, as the locker room emptied with the whole roster wanting to pay their respects to the 17-time World Champion. One of those stars was CM Punk, who joined Cody Rhodes in handing Cena their World Titles for him to hold the gold up to the fans one last time.
In an interview on the post-show, Punk was asked if he thought he could have a similar send-off to Cena. While the Straight Edge Superstar admitted he has more road behind him than ahead, he has no intentions of hanging up his boots anytime soon. In fact, Punk is here to stay.
“When I make allusions to the end of whatever my career is going to look like, it’s not because I feel like I’m there. It’s just because I look back at the entirity of my career and there is a lot more road behind me than there is ahead of me.
“Trust me, I’m the champion for a reason and I’m here to stay. Nobody is going to change that. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. Sorry if that disappoints. Actually, I’m not sorry. To hell with you. If that upsets you, I’m glad,”
