CM Punk has criticised the spread of fake social media posts and AI-generated quotes, explaining why he chooses to stay away from social media platforms.
Speaking on What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon, CM Punk was shown a graphic featuring supposed reactions from several WWE stars following his Undisputed WWE Championship victory. He quickly dismissed the quotes as fabricated.
“This is why I don’t f— with social media. These are, like, AI generated. These are fake quotes,” Punk said. “Seth did not tweet this. Becky did not tweet this.”
Punk also took aim at those responsible for creating the fake posts.
“These are mentally ill people. I couldn’t imagine making up fake tweets that somebody else said,” he said.
CM Punk Addressed The Issue Of Misinformation Being Spread Online
The new Undisputed WWE Champion added that the wider problem is how easily misinformation spreads online, with many people accepting fabricated content as genuine.
“The problem, and it’s not just in our business, I think it’s a societal thing, is people will instantly see that, and then they believe it,” Punk said.
