CM Punk has addressed a question that many fans have asked: given that he is approaching 50, does he plan on retiring from wrestling in the near future?
With John Cena stepping away in late 2025 and AJ Styles’ in-ring career coming to an end last weekend, questions have naturally turned to CM Punk, who will be turning 50 in 2028. However, the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion made it clear that retirement is not something he is considering in the near future.
Appearing on No Contest Wrestling with TJ Henderson and O’Shea Jackson Jr., Punk said he has no immediate plans to walk away from the ring.
“With me, I really don’t know. I almost don’t like talking about it because I don’t think it’s going to be anytime soon,” Punk said. “The way our business is, I like to keep some things shrouded in secrecy and mystery. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Punk added that he feels he is currently enjoying the best run of his career, both creatively and physically.
“I’m just trying to keep myself in one piece because I feel like I’m on the run of my life. I feel I’m doing the best work I’ve ever done. Why would I want to step away from that now?”
At 47, Punk remains a central figure on Raw, currently holding the World Heavyweight Championship and embroiled in ongoing issues with Finn Balor and Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns as WrestleMania 42 approaches.
How Long Has CM Punk Been WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
CM Punk has held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for 96 days, winning the title by defeating Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, 2025, after Seth Rollins vacated the title due to injury.
Punk earned the opportunity to challenge for the title by winning a number one contendership Triple Threat match on the October 13 episode of Raw, defeating Jey Uso and LA Knight.
