CM Punk has taken aim at fans who spend an “unhealthy amount of time” complaining online when things don’t go the way they expected.
In recent years, fans have become a lot more vocal on the internet about the things they dislike on WWE TV. However, others take things further, complaining about not getting things that were never planned to happen in the first place.
“To Me, That’s A Slight Mental Illness” – CM Punk On Fans Complaining When Their Own Fantasy Booking Doesn’t Happen
During a recent appearance on My Mom’s Basement, CM Punk addressed criticism, even going as far as calling it a “mental illness.”
“People just seem to want to be angry about everything because it didn’t happen the way they fantasy booked it in their head.
“To me, that’s a slight mental illness. Like, ‘Hey, I bought tickets to go to this wrestling show, and then I look on Twitter and wrestling journalist 345678910 reports that there’s going to be a big surprise guest. I go to this show and there’s no big surprise guest, and I spend an unhealthy amount of time complaining about that online.’
“And it’s just like, well, you weren’t promised a big surprise guest. Somebody that probably knows less about what they’re talking about than you do and is just a fan, just like you, made some sh*t up on the internet and passed it off as a journalism. And you’re getting mad at that.”
The response came shortly after fans expressed their unhappiness that Chris Jericho didn’t make his much-rumoured return to WWE on the January 5th edition of Raw. While Adam Pearce teased Y2J’s comeback for the show, it is still unclear whether he has left AEW, as he still appears on the promotion’s roster page whereas other recently departed stars have been removed.
