CM Punk wants to follow in Dave Bautista’s footsteps when it comes to acting.
Since making the move from WWE to Hollywood, Dave Bautista has built up an impressive filmography, with diverse roles in movies ranging from Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune, to My Spy and Knives Out: Glass Onion. His ability to take on any role in various genres has earned Bautista the reputation of being the best wrestler to make the transition to film.
CM Punk is hoping to forge a similar path with his own acting career. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion already has a list of TV and movie roles under his belt, including Girl on the Third Floor, a recurring role in Starz’ Heels, and a cameo in Zootopia 2. He is currently promoting his most recent role in the upcoming horror film Night Patrol, which is set for release on January 16th.
Speaking on That Hashtag Show, Punk explained his hopes to cross genres in a similar way to Bautista, and revealed his next role will see him taking on a rom-com.
“I cast a wide net. I want to do everything, like Dave Bautista. I’m currently shooting a rom-com in Calgary, which I think is going to turn a lot of people’s heads too. Like, there’s no such thing as small roles, you know? I want to jump into every single opportunity that gets thrown my way and have fun doing it.”They paid me to be able to have fun and learn”

Night Patrol also stars seasoned actors like Justin Long, Dermot Mulroney, and RJ Cyler. Punk says that working with more experienced stars was a great way to learn while having fun and getting paid.
“They paid me to be able to have fun and learn from actors that were better than me. And it’s only going to help me grow. And I think this movie is going to kind of open up eyes to my talent but also the litany of talent that is in this movie.”
Recently, CM Punk took aim at fans who “want to be angry at everything,” claiming that there are some who create a scenario in their heads, and complain when it doesn’t take place on WWE TV.
