Claudio Castagnoli has declined to comment on speculation surrounding Sheamus‘ future following the former WWE Champion’s departure from the company.
Speaking with the Daily Star, Claudio Castagnoli was asked whether he would like to see his former tag team partner join him in AEW. However, the Death Riders member insisted any discussion about Sheamus’ next move should come from the man himself.
“I feel that’s not for me to talk about. I feel that is for him to talk about when he’s ready for it,” Castagnoli said.
While avoiding speculation, Castagnoli acknowledged that he and Sheamus have remained close friends since their time together in WWE.
“I’ve stayed friends with him throughout. Of course, I would like to see my friends on a more regular basis,” he said. “I feel I’m gonna get that question a lot, but I do feel that is his to answer when he’s ready for it.”

Claudio Castagnoli and Sheamus formed one of WWE’s most successful tag teams as The Bar, winning the Raw Tag Team Championship four times and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once before the team split in 2019.
Recent reports from Fightful Select stated that Sheamus declined a revised WWE contract offer before his deal expired, meaning he is not expected to be subject to the company’s standard 90-day non-compete clause. The report also claimed Castagnoli is expected to be among those advocating for AEW to sign his longtime friend, although CMLL and other promotions have also been mentioned as potential destinations.
Sheamus has yet to publicly announce his next move following the end of his nearly 20-year WWE career.
