Chris Jericho’s continued absence from AEW television has fuelled growing speculation that a return to WWE could be imminent.
Chris Jericho has not appeared on AEW programming for several months, despite being one of the company’s most prominent early signings. A former AEW World Champion, he played a central role in establishing the promotion during its formative years, making his recent absence all the more noticeable. That absence, combined with social media posts reflecting on his WWE past, has only added to the speculation surrounding his next move.
According to recent reports, Jericho’s AEW contract is set to expire at midnight on December 31. With that date approaching, attention has turned toward a possible return to WWE, potentially as soon as early January. Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI reported that sources believe Jericho is expected to appear on WWE programming in the near future, with early January being viewed as a realistic window.
Alba added that Jericho could surface as soon as the January 5 episode of Raw, noting that multiple sources believe his return is imminent once his AEW deal officially expires.
While neither WWE nor Jericho has publicly confirmed any plans, the timing and growing number of reports have made his potential comeback one of the most closely watched stories in professional wrestling as the new year approaches.
When Was Chris Jericho Last Seen In AEW?
Chris Jericho’s last AEW appearance came on the April 9 episode of Dynamite, where he had words with his Learning Tree stablemates Big Bill and Bryan Keith, blaming them both for his ROH World Title loss to Bandido at Dynasty on April 6.
Jericho said on the April 9 Dynamite that it would be best if he left AEW for a while until Bill and Keith made a change. Jericho has not been seen on AEW TV since the April 9 Dynamite.
