Chris Jericho has never been shy about sharing his honest opinions, and he recently took aim at one of WWE’s most talked-about matches, offering a harsh assessment of a bout that many fans still debate.
Speaking in a 2024 interview, the veteran star did not hold back when discussing the tag team clash between DX and The Brothers of Destruction at WWE Crown Jewel 2018. Appearing on Busted Open Radio in 2024, Chris Jericho labelled the match, which featured Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement to team with Triple H against Kane and The Undertaker, as the worst he had ever seen.
“The worst match I ever saw, and here’s your clickbait, was Saudi Arabia; Triple H and Shawn Michaels vs. Kane and Undertaker,” Jericho said. “That was such a stupid idea in the booking. It never should have happened.”
The bout, held in Saudi Arabia, marked Michaels’ return to the ring after an eight-year retirement. Despite the anticipation surrounding the match, it was widely criticised by fans and observers after it failed to meet expectations.
How Would Chris Jericho Have Booked Shawn Michaels’ Comeback Match At Crown Jewel?
Chris Jericho suggested alternative booking ideas, saying the match-ups should have been arranged differently.
“It should have been Shawn and Hunter vs. Roman and Seth and Taker and Kane vs., I don’t know, give me two names of guys, Cesaro and Kevin Owens, whatever you want,” he said.
Jericho and Michaels shared a memorable rivalry during their WWE careers, making his comments about the former DX member’s return particularly notable.
