Chris Jericho believes he still has time left in his in-ring career, but admits the end may not be too far away.
The 55-year-old veteran, who has not competed since AEW Dynasty 2025, has remained part of AEW’s active roster despite recent speculation linking him to a possible WWE return. While those rumours have cooled, Chris Jericho has now addressed his future directly.
Speaking with GamesHub, Jericho reflected on his longevity in wrestling and suggested he is not finished just yet.
“What worries me about the guys working today is here I am at 55, 35 years in, with still some career left to go,” Jericho said. “I don’t know if it’s a year, two years, four years, I’m not sure.”
He added that modern wrestlers may struggle to match that level of longevity due to the physical demands of today’s in-ring style.
“I don’t know how many of the guys working now will have the option to go 35 years. Hopefully all of them. But you can already see what serious injuries do, a bad neck surgery changes everything.”
Jericho also pointed to the importance of balancing physical risk with character work, suggesting that an increased focus on athleticism can come at a cost.
“The longevity may be harder to sustain when there’s so much emphasis on the physical at the expense of charisma and character.”
Chris Jericho Said A Crucial Early Moment In His Career Forced Him To Adapt His In-Ring Style
Chris Jericho recalled a moment early in his career that changed his approach to risk inside the ring.
“I remember the first time I ever got hurt. I thought I was invincible. I was in León, Mexico, did a dive over the top rope, and the guy who was supposed to catch me just stepped aside. I landed on old-school chairs. I messed up my arm and realised I could actually get hurt doing this.”
Jericho said that experience forced him to become more selective with his in-ring style.
“After that I started getting smart about which moves were worth the risk. The guys who figure that out early are the ones who get the longevity.”
With a career spanning more than three decades, Jericho has competed around the world and held major titles across multiple promotions, including WWE and AEW. While his future remains uncertain, he made it clear he is not ready to walk away just yet.
